LG Optimus One P500 to receive Gingerbread Update Very Soon

LG has released Optimus One P500 in October 2010, till then it has gained lots of achievements from all over the world and LG also boosted up the sale for this handset to that much extent that it is still the most loveable smartphone which is currently available in the market.

LG promised to its Optimus One user that very soon they will be going to push the updated version of Android (Gingerbread) for it and (now the time has arrived) it is expected that in this month itself the update will start rolling out. A video uploaded by LG on Youtube, showcases the LG Optimus One with 2.3.3 OS on-board.
Although, its 600 MHz ARM 11 processor, Adreno 200 GPU, Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset and 512 MB RAM will sure bit the benchmark to run Gingerbread OS on it smoothly and it will become more stable and even better after receiving the update from LG.

Got an email form LG today ( 24th May 2011 ).

My question was : Will the soon to be released update for the LGP500 ( Optimus One ) be an update to Android 2.3.4 ?

    This is the reply …..

There are currently no plans to further update the P500 past Android 2.2 at this point. We recommend sporadically checking the LG blog at This is where we will first show any information regarding further updating our handsets.

Been waiting for this since I got my phone, LG promised end of May and still there’s no gingerbread on the optimus one. I’m losing hope but I will give them until July. the screen lag is so annoying this should be fixed on the 2.3.

Like mentioned by above users even i was fed up of using the same 2.2 (froyo) version. Then i came across a blog where i came to know about ROOTing your phone and then Flashing new ROMs can get you to your desired 2.3 Gingerbread. I simply followed their instructions and proceeded. Within no time my phone was up and ready to rock n roll with 2.3. Awesome interface… beautiful new features… and no bugz i’ve found yet.

–But mind you, Flashing and/or rooting VOIDS your Phone’s Warranty. I took risk and I fortunately landed safe. Good luck with others who wanna give a try. 😀

Good luck for people waiting for legal update from LG.

This is gonna make a few of you in the UK not very happy …

Sent an Email to LG ( UK ) On 26th July 2011 –

    This is the reply …

    Dear Customer

If this update becomes available it wont be until september time.
It is not 100% confirmed yet but keep checking the LG website for further information.

I hope this has been of some assistance to you.
Please do not hesitate in contacting us again should you require any further advice.

So their does seem to be a change of plan from LG regarding the Optimus One update from the previous Email ( see above ) i got from LG back In may.

Note: All the other pervious “So Say” release dates “Have Not” been given out by LG !!!.

So it would seem that the July thing ( and all the other pervious so say release dates )
are a big load of BS regarding the “Official” UK release of the 2.3 Gingerbread Update for the LG Optimus One.

Updating with “Unofficial” updates will invalidate your warranty/guarantee for your Phone .

    Your Choice !!!
