How to Install Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ROM on Amazon Kindle Fire

Here comes a good news for all Amazon Kindle Fire owners, recently Google has announced the launch of AOSP code for Jelly Bean 4.1.1. ROM in the Google I/O event held few weeks ago. As soon Google made the source code available, people from all round the globe started to try their hands on installing this new ROM into their devices. Among all the devices, only few like Amazon Kindle Fire were lucky to taste the early Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ROM.


Apart from small glitches, all other features are found to be working on Amazon Kindle Fire like HD Codec are not working for now so user will not be able to use apps like YouTube which uses HD Codec’s but the chipset maker promised to find a fix for it and will roll out the patch very soon, USB Mass Storage is not working for now user can use apps like Android Commander to transfer data’s,  Screen found to be over rotates i.e. it response more while changing from Portrait to Landscape or Landscape to Portrait mode and Wi-Fi is also not working in Amazon Kindle Fire but this issue can be fixed using ADB after installation.

The AOSP for Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ROM is in beta phase and if you are ready to install Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ROM on Amazon Kindle Fire then you can jump start by following below given instructions.

Requirements to install Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ROM on Amazon Kindle Fire:

Once done with the requirement part, head start the installation process.

Installation Process:

  • Download the Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ROM and save it to your device.
  • Now, reboot the device into recovery mode and make a backup of you current ROM, as it is always advised to perform full backup before flashing the device.
  • Once done with backup, wipe all data and dalvik cache from the recovery mode option.
  • Flash the Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ROM and do not reboot the device after flashing ROM.
  • Now, also flash Google Apps package and reboot the device.

After rebooting the device, user can fix the Wi-Fi issue by using ADB working on your PC. Once you have ADB installed on your device and is ready to run, then simply follow the following steps.

  • Navigate to Setting->Developer Options->USB Debugging and hit “Enable” if it is not.
  • Connect Amazon Kindle Fire to PC via USB cable.
  • Run command prompt and type the following codes:

adb shell


  • Now, close the window and enjoy Amazon Kindle Fire running on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ROM.
